POKE THE SLIME
a real soft-body physics simulation: poke it, grab it, drag it, fling it
The goo (how this all works):
- Nine hand-coded canvas games: platform runner, slime Pac-Man, goo Tetris, bucket-catcher, slime Space Invaders, flappy goo, whack-a-slime, goo snake and a musical memory game. No engine, no libraries: every sprite is drawn frame-by-frame with code
- A real soft-body jelly: the poke-able slime is a ring of physics points held together by springs and internal air pressure (a verlet soft-body simulation), with eyes that follow your mouse
- Slime on the glass: click anywhere and goo splatters onto your screen, then slowly drips down it. The wipe button cleans it off
- Jelly scrolling: the whole page wobbles on a damped spring when you scroll
- Four synthesizers, zero audio files: squelches, wet splats, musical bloops and… yes, that one sound. Every jump, chomp and splat is cooked live from raw math by the WebAudio API
- High scores: saved per game right in your browser (localStorage), shown on each cabinet
- Liquid SVG logo: gradient letters warped live by an feTurbulence "liquid" filter, with drips that melt off through a metaball goo filter
- Goo the mascot: pure SVG. He blinks, and his eyes follow your mouse
- Clickable Minecraft slimes: CSS-only 3D cubes bouncing around the page. Click one and it splits in two, just like the game
- Canvas metaball lava: background blobs fused by a blur and contrast trick. One is hunting your cursor
- Secret weather machine: type the word SLIME on your keyboard…
